YOMIKA S. MCCALPINE
MS. BUFFALO SOLDIER 2009-2010

Yomika S. McCalpine, born  September 11, in Tampa, Florida  to David and Myrtle Walker Jr., was crowned Ms. Buffalo Soldier 2009-2010, May 9, at Feather Sound Golf and Country Club, in Clearwater, Florida.

Before becoming Ms. Buffalo Soldier, Yomika became Trooper Yomika McCalpine for the Woods and Wanton Chapter in 2008. Over the past several months, Yomika has been busy representing the chapter at various events and parades throughout the community. Yomika recently had the opportunity to travel to Burlington, Vermont to the 143rd National Buffalo Soldiers Reunion. Yomika had the pleasure of meeting, fellow members, the Governor of Vermont and other important individuals.

Over the next year, Yomika will be hard at work, accomplishing her goals as queen to increase networking opportunities for the chapter, mentor and increase participation within the youth of the Junior Buffalo Soldiers.

Yomika is a proud alumnus of Bethune- Cookman University and has earned several accolades throughout her life. Yomika is an advocate for Children’s Rights and currently volunteers as a cheerleading coach for the Boys and Girls Club of West Tampa  

Yomika is married to Richard McCalpine and the proud mother of Calvin, Nicholas and Jalissa. Yomika is currently employed with Healthy Families of Hillsborough County as a Family Support Worker.
